CS Lewis statue

Holywood Rd     more than a year ago
Stood fittingly outside Holywood Arches Library, this life-size statue is called The Searcher. It depicts the Belfast-born Chronicles of Narnia author as Narnia narrator Digory Kirke stepping into a wardrobe - no doubt in search of his mystical land. Sculptor Ross Wilson unveiled the bronze statue in 1998 - the centenary of Lewis' birth.

I was looking for CS Lewis statue last year in time for my boyfriend's first visit in Belfast in February 2009. He was the one who informed me that the author of The Chronicles of Narnia live in Belfast. I live in Belfast and I didn't know this. It wasn't part of the first two tours I had maybe five years ago now. I read The Chronicles of Narnia when I was in high school in the Philippines. I am 34 years old now so I will let you calculate that. My brother is an avid read of anything including fictional books. He shared this book before turning it to his school's library.I am working in Belfast as a nurse for seven years now. When for the first time I saw the adverts for the movie as a coming-soon-to-theaters near-you movie. I just saw a child hid in a wardrobe and gone out in a snow-filled forest. It was a big flashback from my past. The next time I called home I mentioned it to my brother and by then he knew the movie is coming to theaters soon back home as well. The next time I phone, I will let him know that CS Lewis is from Belfast and I have just seen his monument.I saw it before when I waited in the Holywood Arches library for my appointment in the big orthopedic building behind.I didn't know then that it was CS Lewis and now I know.I didn't get a good picture from the bus tour today.I will get a day ticket to get a good picture with CS Lewis later.I might be lucky and somebody could take our picture.
