This little settlement on the south bank of the river Tirso is spotted with houses in grey and pink trachyte. Since Roman times its main attraction has been a sulphurous hot water spring which earned the village the name of Aquae Ypsitanae, then changed to Forum Traiani under Emperor Trajan’s reign. It remains the most popular spring in Sardinia and is rich in historical artefacts.
