Sightseeing in Plovdiv

You'll need a good two days to get round the sights in Plovdiv, especially if you're planning on going inside all the museums and old houses.

The Old Town is compact but it is built on three hills and the streets and few pavements are made of very bumpy cobblestones, which can soon wear you out.

Not all the sights are in the Old Town, however, with the Archaeological museum, the Roman stadium and part of the Roman forum down in the town centre. Kapana ( 'The Trap'') district below the Old Town is also an up and coming place for arty shops and trendy bars and cafes, so you'll want to have a wander around there as well.
