Bulgarian cuisine means lots of salads, grilled meats and the local tipple rakiya. There are of course many cooked dishes, such as Moussaka, or stews, but most expats will opt for the grilled meat or - if available - lamb cooked on a spit. Some of the restaurants mentioned go all out to reconstruct the traditional village tavern, while others serve Bulgarian cuisine in a modern setting.
