According to a sign above the western entrance of this gorgeous basilica-style Orthodox house of worship, this recommended church dates from 1867. Built on the site of a former church dating from the 14th century, the interior is a glorious celebration of God in the form of hundreds of icons and some outstanding frescos. In 1990 the upper floor was converted into an icon gallery that’s easily overlooked and that’s well worth the walk up the stairs to visit.
