The Black Poodle is a funky, retro eatery with a heavy Soviet living-room feel and a cosy, retro atmosphere that seems to be its main draw. The fresh cuisine is kind of a blend between trendy and home-style, the prices won't bankrupt you and there are even live entertainment events held some weekends. It certainly can get quite busy during the lunch rush and some evenings, just keep that in mind.

Found a 1.5 cm grey stone inside my cake today. The waitress said i could take it as my lucky stone?! No sorry, apologies, money back or anything. Like it happened every day and was the most normal thing ever.

A local friend brought me here and I can't wait to go back to Tallinn just to visit again. What a really 'secret' find amongst all the touristy stuff in the old town.

Had a cake(mango-style) and a cup of coffee here. Nice and personal service. Would go back again!

I found this cafe-bar completely by chance when I walked past it on the way back to my nearby hotel. It's situated down a narrow alley way although as there's no sign hanging over the door you wouldn't even know it was there if you just glanced down the street. Once you see it though I'm sure this classy-looking little joint will catch your eye.Done out in a sort of 1970s Nordic-Soviet retro style it certainly looks good - as does the well-to-do Estonian crown who hang out there. It's also got a slightly indie vibe about it which I quite liked and the price of the beer €2 for 0.5l of draught Saru was no more expensive than anywhere else in Old Tallinn. It's the food though that's the real draw. I had what was quite possibly the best ham and cheese on toast I've ever had in my life. Fresh-as-a-daisy ingredients beautifully plated and served with a smile for only €3. I was just gutted I only found it on my last night otherwise I would have gone back for a full meal as the main courses looked delicious. Really liked it. Highly recommend it. Go there.
