History, archeology and art combine in this curious museum in Turku, housed in a stylish building straight out of the 1920s. The Aboa Vetus portion of the museum covers the history of the city in various forms, while Ars Nova focuses solely on contemporary art. The two come together in a weird juxtaposition that works far better than it should, although we expect nothing less than excellence from the Finns at this point. The museum shop is also one of the best in the city. If you’re itching to see how medieval Turku looked and get a bit of a contemporary art fix in at the same time, you know what to do.
