Ivan Brnčić - the head of the Facebook groups (zakajvolimzagreb – why I love Zagreb) and (purgerskiriječnik – purgerski dictionary), as well as the editor of the blog zagrebancija.blog.hr and a photo journalist for zagrebinfo.hr

Ivan: I have two favorite cafes - K&K Milčec and Pod starim krovovima (Under the old roofs).
ZIYP: Where is your favorite place to relax in Zagreb?
Ivan: I love going to Maksimir Park and finding a place to sit somewhere away from the main road, taking in the moments and enjoying my own time, my own thoughts. Bundek Park is also lovely!
ZIYP: What is the best way to discover the city? Which activities do you recommend?
Ivan: In this day and age, the Internet definitely seems to be the easiest way to discover a city. It is the key source of gathering information about places to visit. Upon surfing the web, I find that the best way to discover a city is with a proper city tour guide.
ZIYP: Where is the most ideal place to shop? What do you recommend as a souvenir from Zagreb?
Ivan: I don’t buy very often so I don’t have a favorite place. I don’t know what to recommend because some people love magnets, some love ceramics, others love flags and so on. What I can suggest for example are products by Lana Hudina and her brand (Duckass) which has unique drawings that promote Zagreb. There are souvenirs by Penkala and the city gingerbread heart souvenirs (licitarsko srce).
ZIYP: Which of the local specialties do you recommend as a ‘must-try’ for visitors?
Ivan: One real ajngemahtec (clear chicken soup with giblets, vegetables and dumplings), zagrebački odrezak (schnitzel), krpice sa zeljem (Croatian type pasta with cabbage), and purica s mlincima (turkey with flatbread).
