Kraków Forts & Fortifications

share
Kraków is full of historical fortresses and fortifications, from Wawel Castle to the Barbican and Medieval Defensive Walls. Lesser known and further from the tourist centre of the city is the system of 19th-century Austro-Hungarian fortifications that circled the city known as 'Twierdza Kraków,' 'Festung Kraków' or simply 'The Kraków Fortress' in English. This includes the well-known citadel fort around Kościuszko Mound, but also dozens of other fortifications, most of which are in complete neglect. At some point we'll get around to listing all of those in a feature article, but in the meantime we've linked below all the venues that include old fortifications.
