If you think that the Netherlands in the year 2012 is still a gay-friendly country, you might just be wrong. In fact, Mayor Aleid Wolfsen proclaimed last year a gay-alert. Due to a recent increase in reported instances of gay harassment, homosexuals who feel threatened in their living environment can call a special phone number. And despite the fact that the city of Utrecht was recently distinguished as the most gay-friendly city in the Netherlands, violence against this minority has been on the increase. Imitating Amsterdam’s successful policy, the local police have now created a gay network, which allows gay and lesbian constables to talk to victims of hate crimes and gay bashing. The mayor also wants to increase education on homosexuality at schools. Luckily festival organizer Pann is there to make all gay-minded Utrecht people happy with their swinging party's.
