Driving & Parking in Vienna
Parking in central Vienna is expensive; the 20 public garages in the centre charge up to €5 per hour. Street parking tickets (€1 per 30 minutes) can be purchased from news agents (
Trafiken), the offices of Wiener Linien, many petrol stations, major train stations and by SMS on the A1 mobile network. Day visitors to Vienna are better off using a
Park & Ride facility in the outskirts (€3 per day) and taking the tram or U-Bahn to the city centre.
If you plan to drive on Austria's highways (all A and S roads) you'll need a vignette sticker on your windscreen costing €7.90 for 10 days, which can be purchased at petrol stations.
