East Belfast's new green corridor 'living landmark', the Connswater Community Greenway opened its final stretch in April 2017, connecting 9km of linear park from the Belfast hills to the lough.

The expanse includes 23 new or improved bridges and crossings, seven new sculptures at C.S. Lewis Square and two new play parks at Flora Street Walkway and Loop River.

Six new tourism and heritage trails have also been established telling the stories of Connwater's Industrial Heritage, Van Morrison, C.S. Lewis and George Best, as well as Eco and Orienteering Trails at Victoria Park and the Connswater Community Greenway Trail.

Five km of cleaned and improved rivers have been enhanced with a new observation area at Victoria Park and pond dipping area at Orangefield Park. And more than one thousand Oak, Alder, Pine, Cherry, Magnolia, Beech trees have also been planted, making this a truly green scheme.

Keep on the right track with the Greenway signage system which incorporates maps and the history of the area. And find out more here.
