966 is widely considered to be the birthday of the Polish nation. The event, which brought Poland into the Christian world, was the baptism of Mieszko I (the dude with the perfect beard on the 10zł bill). In conjunction with World Youth Day and the 1050th anniversary of this special date, this exhibition highlights the contribution of the Małopolska region (with Kraków as its centre) to Christianity throughout history. At the exhibition you can view artefacts and relics from the time of Mieszko I, military equipment, some of the oldest Polish coins, knights’ accessories, Roman oil lamps, medieval crosses, and more. A catalogue in both Polish and English is available.
