Kristal Glam Club

It's moved. A bit further out of town than it used to be, it is still the number one venue in the city for top international DJs, who play here before they play anywhere else in Romania. The cavernous interior doesn't have the intimacy or the garish decor of the old place, but the size of the new Kristal, and the concave roof, mean it doesn't feel too claustrophobic even when half the city turns up to dance.

Famous international DJs such as Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Lee Burridge, John Digweed, Audiofly etc. play to huge crowds on a weekly basis, often joined by Romania's internationally famous [a:rpia:r] (Rhadoo/Pedro/Raresh, of former Ibiza DC-10 residency) or Livio&Roby (winners of Heineken's international music contest). Warm up's usually catered by Mahony (nights.ro best new dj this year, also resident during the summer at the awesome beach-front club Kudos in Mamaia) and often either/both of the dynamic duo known as "2 Crazy Bastards" (Adrian Eftimie/Rosario Internullo), who more often than not offer performances on par or even better than the main act.Still too cool for school (or that should rather be office, most worker drones having an unexplained fear of "that expensive place with the weird minimal music"), despite the change of venues - took a while to get the crowds accustomed to the new location, but good effort has been made in that regard (PROTIP - they offer free long drinks to groups of at least 3 people sharing a taxi to the club and showing the receipt at the entrance, and supposedly there's a Kristal bus that transports people all night from/to the centre, though I've never seen it myself). The appointment of Cosmo (of "EHS Luxury Afterhours" @ Shade fame) as event manager earlier this year has been quite fortuitous, as he seems to have a good pulse on the less commercial club scene and he's injected a bit of life in the line-up, including cool lesser-known DJs such as Fady and Teho (both quite familiar to former Silver afterhours regulars)

Place is a dump and full of plastic blondes and wannabe plastic millionairs. And the service is worst than Tim Henmans (ex British Tennis player in case you wondered who is Tim Henman)
