Still the tallest hotel in Bucharest (complete with a small swimming pool and – during the summer, sun terrace - on the top floor) the Inter Continental was the first major five star hotel to open in Romania, at the beginning of the 1970s. Today it is one of many but remains something of a first choice for journalists and business people, many of whom have been loyal guests for decades.
